Incredible 2000 year old door still in use at the Pantheon

Solid bronze and the original lock still working

Now that’s building to LAST !

The oldest door from 115 AD. still in use in Pantheon, Rome, Italy.

Made of bronze, seven and a half feet wide (each door) & twenty-five feet high but a single person can pushed or pulled to open it easily.

The lock also 2000 years old and still working.

( It’s 25 feet high, you have to click link to see the full scope and the standing woman )

While the gigantic doors to the Pantheon are solid bronze, they are not the originals. The original Pantheon doors were made of solid bronze and covered in gold paint, but these 15th century remakes are actually slightly smaller and unpainted.

So only the lock is the remaining 2nd Century original then - still pretty impressive for the 1400's

Cheers
