I know some are going to say this is fat shaming but trust me, I am outfit shaming. The last time I saw something like this a woman was wearing a swan on her head.

(10,175 posts)I like that lady at the end of the video's blue dress better. That young woman in the white sneakers and purse. She knows how to dress comfortably.

(6,044 posts)I was a fashionable creative dresser for about seven years of my adult life. I am now a minimalist. I appreciate that others go to the trouble of playing dress up and give me interesting things to look at.

(22,482 posts)I have no maligned feelings for her or her outfit. I do think it is quite absurd. But this is Hollywood and people often dress in the absurd here. I'm sure she knew she would get a lot of attention with this dress.

(47,114 posts)Her voluminous, black taffeta gown was guest designed by Glenn Martens.
She paired the design with gold accessories, stacking large hoops and cuffs along her ear and wearing a gold lip ring. She emphasized the mood with black lipstick and a sleek, slicked-back hairstyle.
The gown was originally shown as part of Martens's guest-designed collection for couturier Jean Paul Gaultier in the spring/summer 2022 collection.
After overcoming viral body-shaming insults, the singer is enjoying what some might call "revenge dressing."
Personally I think Lizzo has looked better on the red carpet, but she is a flashy music superstar, and pissed off that she has been publicly shamed about her weight, so I get it. But yes it does look like curtains or green garbage bags.

(47,114 posts)Especially when some of the ugliest dresses are the most expensive.
One of my cousins and I always look at every single dress worn at the Academy Awards red carpet parade.
And examine the cut, design, fabric, fitting to the nth degree.
Sometimes we will argue for weeks about one single detail on one dress.
I love looking at it, but for myself I just wear leggings and tops, bought on sale from Old Navy and Chicos.
I even have a few pieces from Walmart that are nice.
I used to have a friend who only shopped the Walmart sales racks and always looked like a million bucks.
Then I had friends who always had $1000 bucks on their backs and looked like crap.
So it is not about the money, but the eye for design and what looks best on your body type.
