Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you
I loved you so.....
twas heaven here with you.

(6,880 posts)comedians historically (and by "historically" I mean all the way back to pre-history) have been the one class of people who could speak truth to power with immunity.
That's exactly what this cartoon is doing - speaking truth to those of us who have had power over the lives of our furbabies.
And this truth hurts ... but it also comforts, or means to.
Never doubt that you did the best you could for them, and that you too were faithful unti death.

(351 posts)I just did this very thing three days ago with my pretty Joli, the sweetest little Papillon in the world. She was 13 yrs. old, with heart failure, and had a blood clot that went to her brain and set off violent seizures. I held her on my chest while the vet gave her the shots. She relaxed from her seizure, and I felt her little heart stop. She left this mortal coil while I held her. One of the hardest things I've ever done. Sorry to dump this here, but I needed to tell someone.

(14,557 posts)Lots of hugs and understanding of the loss.
What we do know is that these little ones live in our heart every day they are with us
and find a warm place in our heart to stay after they are gone.
Love that her name was Joli. Perfect.
