(65,159 posts)I inherited a couple accordions.
One was my FiL's The other was a guitar student's grandfather's.
I know how to play them, but aside from making sure they worked, I never played them.
One had a couple bad keys or buttons due to reed rot. The other was fine.
I just sold both, one for parts, for a hundred bucks. For both. They were taking up space in my music closet.
But, I never played them in front of people. For good reason. They were accordions!

(86,767 posts)I can handle some accordion but bag pipes, no f'ing way! Had a roommate who had them once. I always asked about that with potential roommates forever after that. Now, roommates are not an acceptable living experience.

(86,767 posts)I don't watch funeral marches for police and others when it becomes a bagpipe parade. I guess my frequency range conflicts with theirs or something.
I think they are interesting instruments and I recall someone posting some videos of some lady who is an amazing jazz bagpipe player, that was interesting and I liked it. Not saying there's anything wrong about them, I can't handle the sound of them.

In the second panel, people are lined up at the gates of Hell where Satan gives each damned soul a pitchfork and some bagpipes!
