(7,347 posts)Only 50 - way too young.
I met him and listened to his eulogy for Andy Stephenson in Seattle all those years ago. Such a good speaker and writer he will be missed.

(16,887 posts)Just curious
.I havent heard an official announcement from the family.
For full disclosure Will is one of the few DUers (or former DU members) I have met in person. Havent been in touch for years but I have not heard yet other than on DU that he died.
If this is true - I can only say that Will is a good person and smart person and I send my love to his family who would be devastated.
Will brought me to DU. He had his differences with DU - but he was a big part of DUs beginning and I appreciated him.

Generic Other
(28,979 posts)OMG, I feel so sad to hear this. I have been on DU since 2001 first joining to follow his writing when he joined up with Skinner and EarlG to express all our angst at GOP fuckery of that era. Followed him through the worst GOP treachery over the years: Bush v. Gore election, 9/11, Iraq, voting activist Andy Stephensen's death when Will came to Seattle to deliver his eulogy. He saw me, heard I was Generic Other, and nearly lifted me off my feet in a bearhug. Camp Casey where he went to meet Cindy Crawford. The hideous Trump years.
So many old memories of hanging in the lounge, fighting in GD, watching him grow as a writer. He was one of us. Even when he hurt. I know he still read DU at times. I sent him links.
Now, I will imagine him, the Queen and Paddington Bear walking out of our vision. A lion of a man. Whether you liked him or not, he was our friend and ally.
Go gently old dear friend.
