the Oktoberfest, originally the wedding party for Ludwig I and Therese, Oct. 17, 1810. We had originally reserved a table for the evening. However we couldn't get a large enough group to show up. Some of the problem, weeknight, and a number of people we know have Covid angst. We will see in a few days if we dodged the plague. Didn't seem to slow down tourists. We managed to dodge rain going and coming and around the park.

The "Champaign tent" Sekt in German, and tent?
Souvenir gingerbread, lebkuchen.
A candy and sweets stand.
Inside a tent, Lowenbrau, can hold 7,500 people on 2 levels with band stand.
The Nederlanders were represented.
After we left the tent, we did this... freakin' cold up there.

It would be awesome to have dinner inside the Lowenbrau tent. Everyone looks so happy.

(3,616 posts)If you do, go early to get some room.
In these tents the traditional bands play from 11 AM until around 4-5.
After that starts the party band. It does get chaotic.
We have taken guests that are our age plus to the Oide Wiesen, traditional area. Where people are cheerful also but the crowd isn't quite as young and the carnival outside is more child friendly.

(17,318 posts)When I was a kid we lived in Germany because dad was in the army. My most cherished possession was the green felt hat with souvenir pins on it! The picture of the huge beer hall also brought back a clear memory long forgotten, so looks like mom and dad took us to an Octoberfest.
Thank you for bringing back such sweet memories and so glad you three had a great time!

Fun place for a celebration.
