...if ever there was an equivalent to the Zen question of a tree falling in the woods, this might be it.

The best thing about Trump may well be an all-time imponderable........

Here's a TRUE story about The Big Orange Jackass (TBOJA). My wife's law-firm was involved in a legal dispute with TBOJA early in the second decade of the 2000's. During a deposition with TBOJA, he was asked to state his name for the record. A 25 minute fracas ensued, with Trump REFUSING to state his name, since "everybody here knows who I am....(they sure as shit knew at that point)...

ANYWAY, the judge called a recess and brought the attorneys into chambers. In chambers, the adversarial legal team and the judge bent the rules, stating that THEY would all agree TBOJA was who he was so they could all move forward. SO they come back, resume the deposition and state TBOJA's name for the record - all is well right? How do you think the deposition went after that?? The attorney's had a reticent BOJA to deal with, right????

WRONG!!!!! True to his self-important being, the lead plaintiff's attorney asked a SINGLE question, and TBOJA proceeded to talk for about 2.5 hours STRAIGHT. He answered questions that were not asked, he rambled incessantly in ways that undermined his own defense - repeatedly.

So, in sum, he refused to answer THE most basic question that can be asked in a deposition, THEN he talked and talked about things that were NOT asked, engaging in a level of self-incrimination that was SNL worthy.

TBOJA is a first class moron, imbecilic narcissist with NO redeeming features. None.

So - in answer to your question, he may well be one of a tiny handful of human beings ever to have drawn breath on this planet without a single positive feature to his personal self.

...even if a family member (not tta any are R's...). I got to this place in my political evolution in 2004, although I was already 98% there at that point anyway.

So that is correct, we did NOT vote for TBOJA.

5. Their version of Christianity

The Republican version of Christianity in this country for generations now holds one principle above all else, above anything Jesus said. That principle is embracing and cheering violence towards women and minorities. And Trump is their absolute ideal person in these regards.

GOP Christians love that Trump has sexually assaulted so many women and cheated on his wives over and over. This is the natural way the world should be to them with “alpha males” raping and beating whomever they please because that’s the divine order of the world they crave. Trump is a serial realist and sexual assaulted, GOP Christians don’t love Trump in spite of that, they love him because of that.

than white supremacy hiding behind the robes of religion and masquerading as piety in the name of Jesus. It is nothing of the sort. It is the naked power grab of a few at the top manipulating the masses for their own perverted vision of the United States as a country that bows to their wishes and their demands. The leaders of the Dominionists, the Federalist Society, Christian Nationalists, Opus Dei—all very wealthy, white people (mostly men) have used their money and positions to accumulate political power to change democratic norms and laws into their version of theocracy.

Why? Because in their minds, white people—especially wealthy, elite people like themselves—are the natural rulers and they became scared of losing their power as women and minorities earned more rights in the courts, gained access to education, gained more job security and financial success, and starting competing with white men whose special privileges started eroding. We should not forget that it was Christian leaders who defended slavery and the “natural” subjugation of people they viewed as little more than animals. Those same “Christian” leaders cannot defend slavery today because that would be political suicide, but their opinions about supremacy of the white race have not changed, and that is what they’re trying to establish through the MAGA Republican Party.

You actually hear them lament the fact that more women are graduating from college than men now, like that’s a bad thing in any possible way. It’s why abortion is such a key issue to them, it’s their hope to get women “back under control” by taking away their reproductive freedom. Above all, they want severe consequences for women who express their sexuality in any way.

Their entire religion is built on being hateful towards women. I don’t think people realize how close to the Taliban many Republican beliefs are. The most important parts of the Bible to Republicans are the parts with brutality towards women.

And on rape, I always knew they wouldn’t draw the line at rape for most Republicans believe with their whole hearts that take victims deserved it, even child rape victims.

the greedy acquisition of wealth and enhancement of ego. These so-called Christians believe that their invisible sky god rewards people, who publicly and loudly proclaim to have taken Jesus as their personal savior. Most apparent in the TV evangelists, who live in mansions, drive new cars, wives draped in mink coats. Their religion is just a grift. You can spot them right away. They'll be wearing the finest clothes, sitting in the front church pews, saying the loudest allelujas, showing off to everyone just how holy they are. Trump lovers admire these wealthy grifters, envy them. All their religious crap is just so much spiritual materialism - using religion and spirituality as ego building.

Here in West Michigan, one religion is dominant, the Christian Reformed church. The Devos (Betsy) family exerts a lot of control in the church. They have a couple private colleges in the area too. The one principle their entire religion revolves around is that “rich people are rich because god has rewarded them for being virtuous, and that poor people are only poor because they are sinners.” And this group are the biggest crooks when it comes to their businesses, nary an honest person among them.

Of course they also sprinkle in plenty of violence towards women too. I’ve had close personal friends in abusive marriages that that church tried to force them to stay in. In their world, women are to be submissive to men in every way, and it’s a man’s right to beat his wife as he sees fit and she should just pray to be a better wife to make the abuse stop.

They're willing to put up with a lot in order to have a "strong man" defend them.

MAGATs are very, very frightened people. They believe that Black people are burning American cities and targeting white people. They believe that Joe Biden is paying Mexican drug dealers to give children rainbow fentanyl on Halloween. They believe that white women are having abortions forced on them. They believe that public schools are forcing children to use litter boxes in bathrooms because of furries. They believe that kindergartners are being forced to watch drag queens strip. They believe that Jewish space lasers cause wild fires and that hurricanes are created by the Deep State and that Dr. Fauci created Covid and pretended it exists in order to make millions.

What they believe makes no sense but they believe it anyway. Believe them when they tell us this.
