The one in my world currently watches my back when I'm in the yard working in the garden. He also watches out the windows and tells me when the deer are eating my flowers.

...if only, I might be convinced to go for it.

Not really, because of a lifetime with very little cat ownership/experience.

But the deer thing!

Cats are like kids, you talk to them like people and they respond very well. If you pay attention you find that they communicate really well.

This guy, he's just staying here as a respite from his human's new environment and her adapting to his care needs in the new place. It's too wild for him to be outside all summer with no secure shelter from the other animals out there.

I had to laugh, yesterday, the cat (Mikey) kept trying to get me to go outside for something. I went out a few times but not far enough so he got to be pesky about it so I got dressed and followed him out to see what he was so adamant about. He wanted me to see that I had a whole bunch of new morning glory blooms that I couldn't see unless I went out into the yard. I apologized to him for getting annoyed, he was actually being a very good boy and I was the toad.

It's a cool relationship, we have our challenges but he is adapting to the part where he has to accept that he can't be outside at night when owls and coyotes are out. We had those at the old place but he had tons of hiding places, don't have that at my new place. Still, it's a good deal, for now.
