(4,858 posts)...The Game, against Harvard. The Good Guys won... I remember a friend of my father's who played for Yale in the 30s. The coach told them before the Harvard game: "Gentlemen, you are about to play football for Yale University against Harvard, some obscure prep school up near Boston. Never again in your lives will you do anything as important." And, of course, the coach was right...

Fun fact: the Bowl has no lights. You need to know exactly where your car is parked at the end of The Game, Harvard v. Yale, (which starts an hour early by the end of the season in November) and get out to it fast or you will need a flashlight. We nearly didn't make it a couple of years ago when a demonstration was held on the field after the band marched off. They sat down and didn't move until the presidents of both schools agreed to take another look at their investments that were causing climate change.
Two years ago, Paul McCartney was at The Game (grandkid at Yale at the time). I attended but didn't see him.
U. S. Presidents can't go to the Bowl because it cannot provide the necessary precautions.
