Is there a word for when you run a Windows update, your computer dies, and then you

have to decide whether to get it fixed or buy another computer, but then you run some diagnostics and voila! your computer comes back to life only to see yet another indication that there is yet another Windows update pending.

Given how many 100's of window's updates I've run on so many different computers without issue, I'd just go ahead and run the next one because the likelihood it will also be problematic is very low.

First though, I'd congratulate myself on figuring out how to recover from the botched update

I just bought a new computer and Microsoft keeps bothering me to stop using Chrome instead of using the Microsoft that was already installed. They want me to switch to Microsoft, but they also want me to switch to Microsoft 11. It's an HP, and I keep wondering why, if 11 is so much better, they didn't already install it on the computer instead of Microsoft 10. I'm thinking about sending the computer back and picking out a new one. I don't have anything against Microsoft, I just think Chrome is a better browser. There are other problems with the computer, so I figure that it's time to send it back, before the 90 days has expired.

I put in Linux Mint Cinnamon variation CD. Smooth as a finely tuned instrument but somewhat compatible with Microsoft.

I no longer recommend Linux Ubuntu as too bulky and totally unready for update, especially Firefox browser.

When your computer is running well, it is important to clone the system drive in case the worst happens.
