Best Proteins for your heart. An interesting article on how to eat healthy.

Can proteins be heart-healthy? Experts say yes. But when it comes to choosing the best protein sources for your diet, it pays to be discriminating. It’s also important to eat the proper amount of different types of protein.

For example, the American Heart Association Trusted Source reports that many Americans get more protein than needed from meats high in saturated fat.

Eating too much saturated fat can elevate low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels, which can lead to heart disease.

Processed meats have been linked to cardiovascular disease, in part due to their high content of added sodium, according to the Harvard School of Public Health. (The rest of article at link above. I strongly recommend this article for everyone.)

I eat too much red meat even tho I try to balance it w/ our selection of seafood. Try not to eat farm raised seafood but at times, it’s as expensive as meat.

Cardiologist Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn. His proven plan has reversed heart disease. Not just anecdotal but proven by coronary angiogram.. the "gold standard".
It is basically a whole foods plant based way of eating. He stresses no oil in or on anything. Very hard for some people to do. It goes along with Dan Buettner book "Blue Zones" about parts of the world where people live long healthy lives, some into their 100's..
Personally I don't care how long I live as long as I'm healthy when I go!!
Die young as old as possible. Works for me!!

called Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.

According to Wikipedia, Forks Over Knives is a film.

Both look worth checking out.

Thanks for the reference to Dr. Esselstyn….
