2. Yes, WordleBot requires a subscription now

I signed up for the $4/month introductory subscription a few months ago. When it expired, I canceled, giving the reason that it was too expensive ($17/month). I immediately got an offer to extend for a year at $4/month, so I took it.

5. Just guessed

If there are only 2 or 3 possibilities, I just guess, starting with the word I think is most common. (All the words in the solution list are equally likely to be the answer, but I don't want to use a word that might be allowed as a guess but not in the solution list.) If I know there are at least 4 possibilities, I'll use a test word to narrow it down. The biggest problem with this strategy is missing some possibilities.

Sorry Bill Gates, but AUDIO isn’t the best word to start with when you’re playing Wordle.

A pair of MIT researchers recently set out to find the optimal starting word for the popular online puzzle, discovering that the statistically superior first guess is SALET, which is a 15th century helmet.

The peer-reviewed paper, titled “An Exact and Interpretable Solution to Wordle”, puts an end to the ongoing debate over what five-letter word constitutes the best opening move in the game.

“If you play SALET and you play intelligently you can assuredly win the game within five guesses,” researcher and MIT Ph.D. student Alex Paskov tells CNBC Make It. “You don’t even need that last guess.”

Universal knowledge re: the alphabet is not single, unique game "inside info".

The top ten most common letters in the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, and the percentage of words they appear in, are:

E – 11.1607%
A – 8.4966%
R – 7.5809%
I – 7.5448%
O – 7.1635%
T – 6.9509%
N – 6.6544%
S – 5.7351%

All this time I thought they were " R, S, T, L, N, E" which are the Freebie letters in Wheel Of Fortune's final spin puzzles.

... the frequencies are slightly different:

We see from Figure 1 that “e” is the letter that is most frequently used (1,233 times in total), followed by “a”, “r”, “o”, “t”, “l”, “i”, “s”, “n”, “c”. The most frequently used letter in the first position is “s”, while the most frequently used letter in the second or third position is “a”. The most frequently used letter in the fourth or fifth position is “e”.
