I was getting multiple spams calls per day, and they drive me crazy. It's abusive. They waned when my credit card swept my contact information off websites.
So, they started up today again. I have no patience anymore. I usually keep saying hello until they hang up. This charming prick finishes with fuck you. Do not call is a joke. My credit monitoring tells me my phone is on the dark web.
I'm not answering anymore. I don't need this.

(23,297 posts)One guy claimed he wanted to buy a $4 million house from me. When I checked out the name he gave, it didn't show up in the city (San Francisco) he claimed to be from. Checked the number he gave and it was used in IRS scams and Social Security scams. Wanted me to 'ping' him on WhatsApp. I sent him a text and said I knew he was a scammer and I would report him. I probably said "Why don't you get a real job" or something. He responded that he could report me, too. One time I emailed a scammer back and said "maybe you should just go outside and kill yourself". He emailed back "Done."

Leave a message. I return calls if it's not spam.

(2,002 posts)tell them your on the National Do Not Call List, and to put you on their Do Not Call list. If the same organization calls again, you can report them and they are fined. The hardcore spammers and international spammers don't care, but it may cut down on the few legit US calls.

Any business that cold calls you is almost certainly a scammer. They don't deserve politeness. Sometimes I pull out my aunt's old whistle she used as a professor of women's phys ed and try to deafen the scammers. Sometimes I just don't answer. Occasionally, I give them unexpected answers ("Does your back/knee/neck hurt?" "No, I have no pain anywhere!"
Sometimes I let my husband play games with them. He kept one of those "Microsoft Tech Support" scammers on the phone for nearly an hour while he played solitaire on his computer.
