Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsWell, that was an unexpectedly long and 'interesting' visit with my friend.
She arrived on Oct 8 for a 10 day visit. Then she tested positive for Covid. All plans were scrapped and I made sure she was comfortable and got Paxlovid. Fortunately she was pretty much asymptomatic. We still wore masks and kept our distance. I did a lot of cooking because she never lost her sense of taste or smell. All of our plans were dashed.
She just left for the airport. I'm exhausted. Trying to act nonchalant while terrified I'll get infected, despite being fully boosted, was exhausting. I didn't really sleep much. She is fully boosted, too, but still caught it.
And at the same time trying to socialize the three kittens. Then I found out I was hosting a farewell brunch, this morning. After a lot of scrambling I managed to pull together a nourishing meal. The other guests also brought some tasty stuff.
My plan for the rest of the day is, well, there is no plan. I'm going to fall asleep in the recliner watching 'Law and Order' reruns. Hopefully the boys and Carys will take pity on me and not start biting my toes.

(34,111 posts)Rest yourself. My new kitten is a toe biter in bed. I bring a squirt bottle and that stops her instantly. One of these days she will learn that it is always going to be like that. Not as smart as most have been but cute and sweet as can be. My barn cat gets out of my car if I make that squirting sound, he flies out the door. LOL
I am getting over Covid right now. I had no idea after being fully vaxed and boosted that I might get it and it would be so bad. Take care and rest up. You will have a much better chance to keep clear of it if you are in tip top shape. ((HUGS))

(86,645 posts)How you might holding up trying to juggle all that! The brunch sounds like insult to injury of sorts.
Glad you now have all of the hard work behind you, including dealing with newly captured kittens.
You deserve a break and I suspect the kitties might be a little exhausted too.

(26,266 posts)Carys is still a little 'human hesitant' but she's in full exploration mode. I make it a point to gently catch her at least twice a day and give her some nice snuggles, scritches, cuddles and soft words. She's getting more comfortable but when she wants to get down, I make it a point to pick her up and place her on the floor to break that 'escape' mind set. She watches, with great interest, when I play with the boys.
I'm just going to take the rest of the day to rest and recuperate. Tomorrow I'll get back to life as usual. I'm going to take one more Covid test, probably on Tuesday or Wednesday, just for peace of mind.

I wouldn't want a house guest for that long without the medical tension.
You have more patience than I do.
