I’ve got amblyopia. At one time I was corrected to a degree- accidently. Lately, 20/200. We’ll see! I’m okay regardless, because I’m used to it. I’m somewhat hopeful.

I hadn’t gone to an in-person conference in years. Too expensive. My contract at my former job did have a continuing education allowance, but it was barely enough to cover the registration fee of a typical 2-4 day meeting.

By the time you’d factor in air fare, 3 nights at a “special” conference rate for a hotel room (minimum $250 a night in any big city) and food, attendance at a conference would be at least $2000.00 - just too much.

Great topic. And I learned a lot of clinically useful things. I have a panel of maybe eleven transgender patients, and I want to be sure that I practice in such a way that they trust me and know our clinic is a safe place.

My grandson is dating a transgender man, and they are both living with us. But I can't learn a lot from his amore, because we don't talk about transgender issues; we just accept him for who he is. He's family.

I think being supportive of transgenders is very kind and accepting. So many people just jump to judgement, without the slightest idea of what these people are going through

It's how I found fulfilment despite having a father who told me I'd never amount to anything. And he was a healer, too. He might have known better.

even think, that way. But his ugly comments did give us a real blessing, regardless of his intent. Did he ever know?

I had passed all of my exams up to that point. He knew I was going to make it. In fact, the first exam I flunked was after the week I took off for his funeral. Unfortunately, there was no 'movie-of-the-week' final death scene where he said "I'm proud of you, son." Real life isn't always a Hollywood movie.
