Maggie is at peace.
Turns out that a growth on Maggie's neck was a cancerous lymph node. Doc diagnosed this by her experience. She said Maggie's rapid weight loss and obvious great discomfort were additional signs of cancer. We'd all noticed the lump, but Maggie had a cold so we figured it was just a swollen lymph node. In retrospect, I realize that it had grown appreciably in the last week. I feel stupid that this didn't register with me.
When we got home, my sister had to tell my niece that Maggie was gone. My niece's sobbing from my sister's room broke my heart all over again.
Maggie died peacefully - with a tiny little blep. 😸
Thank you all, once again, for your support. This community has held me up more times than I can remember.
