Google was in 2005! They look fine, (might be a little worn), but still warm and in good shape and I think are thicker and better constructed than those I have purchased since. I have lots of fleece jackets and tops, but these two (one medium purple, one taupe) are still my "go-tos."

40 years ago. Off-white, belted, lined, huge pockets, detachable hood, washable. Still gets me compliments. I've bought a lot of jackets since then, but this one's a go-to favorite still.

And I have a warmly lined (zip-out lining) double-breasted London Fog trench coat bought about 30 years ago that's still a great classic coat to have handy. But it requires dry cleaning.

Was just checking London Fog's website and saw they have a single-breasted parka-length trench coat in a similar style to the jacket I mentioned above, and the same 33" length, but theirs is a heavier coat, not washable, and not available in off-white: https://londonfog.com/products/s-b-belted-w-hood . Nice low price, though apparently, from the reviews, the sizing is off.

...that my now-husband wore to the Sapporo Snow festival in 1979. We met in Japan, while we were each stationed at Yokota Air Base, he as a pilot and me as the base pediatric nurse practitioner. It was a great trip.

He no longer wears the jacket. I snuggle up in it on days when the house feels just a bit chilly but not chilly enough to bump up the thermostat setting.

And, seeing post 17 above, I do wear my maternal grandmother's engagement and wedding rings, from 1919 and 1920, on my right ring finger. Each is engraved with my grandparents' initials and the dates they were given to her by my grandfather, 12/31/191, and 6/05/1920. They are among my most treasured possessions.

He was a dentist and she was a nurse. They met when she cared for him after he was hospitalized with facial burns from an explosion in his office's dental lab. My mother was the oldest of their 4 children, and also became a nurse, so I am the 3rd generation of nurses in my family.

The women who sold them to her were laughing at her. They thought she had seriously overpaid when she forked over the equivalent of $1 each for the shirts.

It belonged to my mother. You may never have heard of a “shift”, but, it’s kinda like a house dress/robe thing, may be a southern thing, very lightweight.

I would guess it’s from about 1970, pink cotton with big yellow and orange flowers, two missing buttons, and one pocket held on with a safety pin. I wear it all the time.

I also have a shirt of my dads that I wear in the summer. It may even be older than the shift.

Do muumuus have buttons or zipper openings in the front? Mine is more like a lab coat without lapels, with 4 big orange buttons down the front (2 missing), with big patch pockets. I thought muumuus were a slip over the head garment.

I love it as much for its versatility, as I do it’s connection to my mom. I should make a pattern from it.

I took really good care of them and treat them as my special boots.
I clean and oil them every 6 months . I get taps put on them to protect against heel wear. They are nearly in perfect condition.

They got the embroidered tag too.

And I have purple Doc Martins from back
then and they have a little wear but they are still intact and wearable to this day.

Then you counted rings.
So, the oldest wearable is my wedding ring. 42&1/2 years. I've had it off a under a dozen times.
3 times for an MRI, the rest when I was at a manufacturing site dealing with powdered enzymes.
So, maybe 60 hours it's been off since March of '82.
For clothes, I bought a really good, winter-lined black leather jacket. Still have it, it's in great shape, & I wear it when temps get down to 10° or colder. It's REALLY warm.
I've had it since the late 80s. Not sure which year, though.
