Here's a fun question

Just got a call. My friend left her cell phone at the library. The librarian didn't know who it belonged to, but my number is in contacts. My friend lives 2 1/2 hours away. She has no landline. Her laptop died a few months ago, and she's not sure she will replace it. So basically she is unreachable. She might figure out where her phone is, hoping for that

I texted her sister, who lives about 15 minutes away. She is working, but might go out later. Or might not. I located one of her neighbors who I also grew up with and pm'd her on fb. We aren't friends on fb. so she might not see my pm.

I think I've done all I can think of. I might send my friend a card, and let her know in case the people I contacted don't let her know, or she might track the phone down on her own.

But is does bring up an interesting point. Even in this day and age, there are times you will not be in touch, either because you misplaced your cell phone, and cancelled your other means of communication, or because you don't have a connection. What do we do?

I've existed without any type of phone for years. If it was important, people always found a way to contact me. Yes, a phone is convenient and absolutely necessary if you have people dependent on you but for me a phone is a luxury item.

Text her phone with the owner contact info, address etc.
maybe someone there will make the effort to return it?
Or call the library with the owner info and explain the situation

and I told her my friend's name. I thought I'd try to get in touch with my friend through her sister or neighbor friend. If her sister is inclined, or if her neighbor gets my message.

Thank you

which were difficult to misplace or leave at the library. And there were payphones everywhere.

There are downsides to relying on tech before failsafes are in place. We are living through that transition.

I sent her Door Dash recently But I don't want her to be vulnerable, so I won't do this for her, but I would totally do it for someone else.
