Went to career day yesterday as a guitarist, I think I have a job offer once I retire.

So yes yesterday was career day at our local high school and as a union teamster truck driver/ yard jockey. I wouldn’t suggest this as a career so no on representation of the commercial driving arts as career choice.
Anyway if the students did not wanna participate in career day they had options.
Several movies
Chess club
Debate club

Or come to Guitar class to jam with a 56 year old who brings the funk or blues or chicken picking or jazz our one son asked me he said hey dad Mrs guitar teacher wanted to know if you wanted come in. As I’ve jammed with the kids over the years and the teacher is awesome she said to me once ,you always have a invite to come and she is awesome guitarist professionally trained Berklee.

The teacher is around my age why she even got the joke yesterday when I said to her what if Hendrix played with the partridge family and riffed off a funk version of I think I love you I said my wife had a crush on David Cassidy as a young girl , the teacher replied all of young girls had that crush. I personally like Reuben the manager I said.

And once again I had a blast with the kids and it amazes me these youngsters today are awesome in their playing. Why because they’re exposed to guitar lessons at school and then the internet these kids have so much available to them compared to our day with vinyls and trying to figure out say Bold as love or little wing or running with the devil . And some of the more serious pickers go there yep where do these young minds wanna go Van Halen or Hendrix or SRV why you kids are in luck because that’s right up my alley.

Although one kid did say you look like that guy from ZZ TOP i said young lady. It’s not intentional I’ve shave probably once every two years. So we yesterday went over chord inversions and dived into the CAGED system Hendrix or Curtis mayfield some blues turnarounds we even dived into piano chords on guitar and playing blues ,doing those trills it’s all to have good time yes kids see if we break this chord down then we can use our thumb over top of neck and move to chords and use our ring finger and pinky into these fills then hammer ons and pull offs.

And I love when it finally hits them and then they are off exploring it’s a good feeling, and as for the job offer after I retire it was this one young kid he said if you were my age I have you join my band. I smiled and replied thank you yet I’m not into death metal anything by pantera barf lunch was a bummer no sloppy joes on menu.

And it sounds like you live in an awesome school district! Your kids are lucky to have you, Mrs., their furry brothers, & an awesome school.

Here (red hellhe TN), when my grandson was in HS, I suggested he join theatre to make props as a way go have fun & meet friends. He came home absolutely furious. Teacher/theatre advisor handed out info sheets. They required payment of $450. (Everything at these schools is this way!)

He said, "these rednecks are crazy! They want me to pay them to build their props!"

Of course he didn't do it. He wouldn't. Just on principle.

Glad you had fun & I hope that provided some respit from Mrs. Health concerns.
