I like the RediWhip, though it's gone pretty fast. What do you like on you pumpkin or sweet potato pie?or ther pie of your choice Someone in this house puts lots more of their share on their pie.

Cool whip is like guar gum mixed with air.
And of course a lot of sugar...
Either way enjoy! (I know lots of people like cool whip...just find it tastes artificial.)

(34,136 posts)And for this week, taking pies to a dinner two plus hours away also makes real impractical. I can carry a pie and a can of RediWhip and each person can dose their slice as they wish.
But here at home, I am NOT whipping real cream up for two servings at a time!

(25,218 posts)It had no taste, so I added salt. Do you add sugar to the whipping cream. Never made it myself for pies.

(16,975 posts)If I weren't low carb, I'd make it with heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. I learned about using powdered sugar when I worked in a local restaurant kitchen. Makes a nice texture.
You'd have to look for a recipe, because I don't measure.
Be sure to stop whipping it before it turns into butter. I did that once when I was a kid. lol

(25,218 posts)did look like whipped cream. I put the lid back on and we continued to pass around the room. This is the first time I realized that it was whhipped cream, then the next stage would be the butter. Thank you. Marthe.

(16,975 posts)I have heavy whipping cream on hand. My old cat gets a little twice a day. If I want a low carb treat, I'll make some homemade whipped cream with my own vanilla extract, and some Monk Fruit sweetener. I love the texture, and I wish I didn't!
I don't buy RediWhip, too tempting, but I get lite whipped topping, also a treat.
