...in 1920, on that date, a left-handed slugging outfielder was born there named Stan Musial.
...in 1969, also on that date, another left-handed slugging outfielder named Ken Griffey, Jr, was born there.
I wouldn't be surprised if major league teams have already scrutinized the births in Donora on November 21, 2018. Is there a four-year old boy there already being scouted...?

(3,582 posts)I think he and my Uncle Joe graduated high school the same year.
Stan never forgot where he came from. All the stories about him being a good guy are true, at least from my older family members' perspective.

(4,858 posts)...from everything I've heard of Musial, I'd believe he was a good guy. Incidentally--an all-time all-star team of Good Guys would wipe out the Bad Guys team...

(7,643 posts)I had just started reading and understanding the box scores in the sports section of the newspaper some time in the fifties when Musial hit five home runs in a double header. I followed every Cardinal game after that.

(17,217 posts)Musial was one of the greatest players of all time, and Junior wasn't bad, either. Senior was pretty decent, too, lest we forget, and he was born in Donora, too. In fact, his dad went to high school with Musial.
