I know that when out walking with your fur kids, they may stop for a drink of water out of a nearby puddle or pond. It's a serious threat we need to prevent. Drinking from standing water can infect dogs and cats with Leptospirosis disease. There is a Lepto vaccine for dogs, but does not protect against all strains of the bacteria. People can catch Lepto, too, but it's not very common. Currently New York City has an outbreak due to the disease being spread by the large rat population.
