I stupidly ordered something from an online store

in China, without first checking to make sure the store was a U.S. one. Now I wonder if I'll get my order, what with all the lockdowns, etc. in China. Anyone know if the mail is still moving there?

1. I periodically ordered things (usually by accident on Amazon) from China

especially DURING PEAK COVID. I always expected many weeks, but in most instances, the shipping was efficient and unexpectedly fast with good tracking.

So, there's a good chance yours will be too. But do track it. The worst for me was on the USPS side where at least one item was misdirected or misdelivered.

2. I saw on my bank account that

they took the order (it wasn't on Amazon), but I haven't received a receipt, or tracking info, or anything.

Still, I placed the order just yesterday, so maybe I will. Fingers crossed!

12. I recently ordered a 2nd sweater from China

You really can’t get much info from tracking except when it left the place and usually a month later when it’s delivered.

I liked the first sweater thru Amazon- so I ordered a second knowing it would at least be a month or longer till. I got it.

They will probably send an email when they ship it.

I am going to order a replacement gift from a U.S. store through Amazon, in case my China order flopped. Never again will I not check out the online store before ordering!

3. Tried 3 different stores on Amazon

Wanted to order a sweater for my DIL. Nearly clicked on process order and the delivery date was Dec 20-Jan 10. Geez, it isn't even December yet.

Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the check out page to get the delivery date. I’m so used to everything coming in a couple of days from Amazon.

10. One good thing about Amazon

It’s easy to get refunds. I’ve had no problems with returns and their customer service is pretty good.

I fell for a scam sending a gift card to a friend’s “cousin.” She’d been hacked so the email request to this favor from her seemed legit. Amazon refunded my money.

11. I always shop at Amazon, and

I thought the item I ordered was through Amazon too. That's what I get for rush-shopping.

4. I order things from China all the time

I received two from China last week, both originated from China Post and took about 3 weeks which has been pretty normal lately. A year or two ago it would occasionally take a month to 5-6 weeks. If they give you a China post tracking number the USPS will recognize it, but tracking doesn’t start until they have it. It’s typical that it gets hung up in US customs for as long as a week.

14. There are those out there

You can do a search on the name of the web site and see if there’s any reviews. If you’ve been scammed it’s a pretty safe bet you aren’t the first. If you have there may be a way to reverse payment from your source.
