He was doing a UCLA game, and had been roommates with Coach Terry Donahue. UCLA had just recovered a fumble, and Lampley asked Donahue some question or another. Donahue was watching the action on the field, and a late flag came in that nullified the fumble (defensive offsides on UCLA). Just as Lampley stuck the mic in Donahue's face, Donahue said, "Oh shit." Lampley pulled the mic back, covered it with his hand and lowered his head. I'm sure he was thinking, "Well, there goes my career."
