How did Scarlett Johansson get David Bowie to sign on?

A great Tom Waits song, but I wasn't expecting Bowie to show up in ScarJo's supporting vocals.

Sing in a poker voice...

Sing to Tom Waits songs, which are wrought with emotion and loathing, and then remove that element from them.
