I'm just curious, because it seems like I missed a lot of good shows growing. I got into watching reruns of Home Improvement in the mid 2000s during its TBS rerun years and really liked it. I also recently started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netfilx, because its one of those shows people talk about so much I wanted to give it a try, even though I never watched it during its original airing because I was like 8 when it came on. It's actually really good. Anyway, what shows do you like now, that you didn't in their original run?

(27,247 posts)but I kind of like it now (although some episodes are pretty corny).
I quit watching The Avengers ('60s show) after watching a scene showing a dead guy impaled with a lance swinging from a bell rope (scared the crap out of me), but I like it now.
Can't think of any others...

(5,604 posts)So they'd have been reruns then, but I could still watch 'em all now. (I've never grown up) Star trek, Gilligan's Island, Adams Family, Munsters, Bewitched, I dream of Jeanie, Hogans Heros, Man from Uncle, Batman; come to mind.

One more recent (within the past 20 years) show I never saw which I've been watching a few episodes of almost every night is "That 70s Show".
I think it's a hoot, personally, and I like to try and predict what sort of dialogue the characters will have but am not successful. The writers were very creative.
My favorite character is Fez.

Mission Impossible is another one I wouldn't watch as a kid, but enjoyed later on.

(34,136 posts)I disliked the original series so when the remake came along I never watched it at all.
BBC America started running it and I really got into it. It is infinitely better than the original POS.

(15,164 posts)Well, OK, I wasn't born during its original run but I didn't pay much attention to it or care much for it until I caught it in reruns a few years ago and then I got addicted. I can sometimes watch an episode over and over again, regardless of how many times I've seen it
Different Strokes was another one. Again, slightly before my time but I nevertheless never paid much attention to it until a few years ago when I started seeing it in syndication and I now find it quite good
Everybody Loves Raymond also falls under this category. Patricia Heaton and her right wing nuttiness kind of put me off the show when it was actually was on air but then I started watching bits and pieces of the show now and then and eventually got around to quite liking it. Still don't think much of Patricia Heaton and her right wing views but at least it had Peter Boyle on it and he was very much a liberal
I can't really say that "Two and a Half Men" was a show I didn't appreciate during its original run since its still airing. But I tried my best to avoid it and dislike it for the first few years it was on. Then, for some reason I started watching and it became one of the few modern TV sitcoms that I found absolutely hilarious. Haven't watched it since Charlie Sheen left though

(14,047 posts)OK, some of the "Reefer Madness" episodes were over the top, but we sure would use more "Sgt. Joe Friday" and less "Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane".

(5,909 posts)I remember when it came out but never watched it, and then it got cancelled after (I think) 12 episodes. IFC started running it about a year ago, and I've seen every episode numerous times.
It was a great show---bummer they cancelled it so soon.
