I need to send flowers to a very special medical assistant. Thanks!

(1,532 posts)I usually call a florist located close to the delivery point and place an order over the phone, then give them my credit card number. That way I can tell them exactly what flowers I want in the arrangement and it's almost always much less expensive.
Good luck!

(6,581 posts)You'll get more bang for the buck ordering from a local shop. The online and wire services just suck up a big fee for the convenience of forwarding your order to what can be the very same florist that you might choose (especially in small towns).

(23,691 posts)I usually use a local florist whenever I send flowers. Even if it out of my area I'll goggle florists for the area I am sending them. Then I call that florist. I just hate using the big chains like 1-800-flowers. I figure they put the little mom & pop florists out of business. Plus it isn't personal.
