(8,601 posts)...I submit this as proof that today's "music" industry has no business turning half of its roster into stars. I'll go out on a limb and say that at least 85-90% of the vocalists in the era of top-40 radio I grew up in (British Invasion, was born in 1969, and could no longer stand top-40 radio beginning about 1988) were decidedly better singers than that. Nearly all of the remaining ones were certainly no worse. They had to have talent to get into bands back then, even if the music itself was mostly electronic and/or sampled.
Do you really want to sell me the line of bullshit that talented singers have fallen off the face of the earth, and now this is what we have to settle for? How utterly tragic.

(19,373 posts)There's another YouTube clip out there I endured with Katy singing au natural. She gives mediocre vocalists a bad name. Sounds like she peaked at the sixth grade talent show.
