all four of her plastic lawn chairs fell over.

Seriesly, her chimney cracked, and her son's school was closed for quite some time. It was no joke thereabouts, especially not after Cantor decided to turn their disater aid into a political football.

Alas for her and her neighbors, Cantor's Fault System may make central Va. look like downtown L.A. on a geologic map!

The Washington Monument has been closed for repairs ever since.

5.8 is a reasonable quake in an area not built to withstand them.

I lived in California and been through many quakes, including the Northridge quake that knocked down my local freeway.

Hardly just lawn chair tipping.

Matt Paxton, who is my favorite clean-up guy, was in this house in NE Maryland on the 2nd floor standing on a giant pile of adult dirty diapers. These diapers were probably the result of years of the person living in the house just tossing their adult diapers in the corner each time they changed (I don't think the toilet was working). So Matt Paxton actually climbs on top of this giant pile of dirty diapers and while he's being typical Matt Paxton snark on top of these dirty diapers the earthquake hit the east coast. Poor guy was freaked out that the building was going to come tumbling down with him buried in a giant pile of dirty used adult diapers.
