Up at the northwestern top of Manhattan there's a big park.
There's also right near by a natural and augmted man made marsh that Columbia Uni uses to study, plus a newer built mini public park, and area where they launch their sculling boats from a (mostly public) pier.

One summer about ?6 years ago a, I guess, teenage seal hung around there. It was so fun to watch! People came up to see it. My sib lives in the area so I'm up there any ways. Hopefully later on it swam southward to another area where ?harbor seals do hang out in the more south sections of NYC"s waterways.
