I heard about this competition from one of the architects who worked on the Houston Horse Track (this was a very long time ago). They won the year we were building the horse track. I am always amazed at these sculptures.

If I were an artist in that Texas compitition, I would treat the sand with crude oil to get the needed consistency, which could spark a number of creative subject ideas!
