but sometimes the heat & humidity in Iowa can be suffocating. Usually we use ceiling fans and other fans.

Corn evaporates a lot of water into the air, thus the high humidities.

We now live on the 5th floor of a Senior Living facility and it gets hotter faster. Our windows face East, so we get the early morning sun. By mid day, it still remains warm. The hallways are hot in the summer, colder in the winter. Screwy I know. Each apartment has its own heating/cooling unit.

And 76 for overnight. I read 65 is the optimum temp for sleeping but that would freeze us out.

On weekends and holidays, I turn it up to 74.

At night, I turn it down to 70.

I have free nights and solar days. Granted, I have a small, downstairs apartment, but my electric bill is generally under $50, sometimes under $40.

It's been cool enough overnight to switch back to the furnace, even if I'm trying to tolerate when the inside temp drops to 67. I have a brick house, so as the day goes on, the bricks warm. by evening it's 76 or so. I put the a/c on 74.

I wear out the batteries in the thermostat this time of year :/
