Someone gave my 17 month old a toy telephone

She has no idea what this weird thing is. Her grandma keeps holding it to her ear and trying to get her to talk to it.

We have no "old skool telephone" in our house. SHe has never seen one of these things being used. Me and my wife only use our cells or talk through the computer. The "ring ring" is foreign to her too. My phone is usually on vibrate and my wife's plays a catchy marimba number.

What else will kids today have no idea of what they are?

I've got VCR, cassette, LP and LaserDisc tied into the stereo system. And I'm not even that old! HopeHoops Aug 2012 #10

It's easier to teach them how to use a sundial. Which means they can tell time only half of the time.

It makes me so hopeful that she loves books so much.

... are involved in getting all of that shit connected? Then there's the 8-port stereo switch for the speakers - inside, garage, outside, etc. Just getting the sound where we want it is a challenge and I've got a fucking diagram showing where everything is (although to be fair, I'm often too wasted to use the map at night).

Still, LaserDisc rules. The only bitch I have about it is that I don't have a remote for the player and there's no way to pause it. It has what LOOKS like pause switches on the front, but they don't work. At least the player does. It's only 20 years old.
