for parents to teach kids the creation myth of their choice. This is not child abuse the way beating or sexual molestation is child abuse.

On the other hand, it is illegal for a state to require public school teachers to push creationism or "intelligent design" as if it were science. Courts have held that such state laws violate the establishment clause in the first amendment to the US Constitution.
