Here in the extreme-drought-stricken Midwest......

where we are receiving our first rain in over three months, I have discovered an amazing new substance previously UNKNOWN TO MAN!!

I call it: "MUD". It's kinda like dirt, except with a little more water. Stickier, slimier, dirtier (a lot like Karl Rove...)

It has some very strange properties--No one has seen anything like it before!

a sample:

(anyone think I can get a Nobel Prize for this? or even a Cowbell prize from LynneSin?)

so far. But it is so very soft, intermittent. Just wonderful. Soaking into the earth so slowly and lovingly.

lastlib, you may get neither the Nobel or a Cowbell from LynneSin, but someplace inside is feeling a bit of relief. If you've got woods and hills, then you are overjoyed with less fear of a fire. If you are a farmer, its too late period. Hope you still have your electric.

Still on a scale, Isaac caused a lot more grief and misery than joy.

Enjoy that wet earth stuff.

And subsequently all over the carpet. It hardly seems fair.

the rain isn't soaking in. Instead it's flooding the street.

I wish I were kidding but my front yard isn't squishing when you stand on it,even after a few inches of rain. It's hard like the concrete sidewalk.
