(21,046 posts)And plenty of babtists that have made many counties a no-fun zone.
I've seen commercials for voting on liquor sales for several communities around Tyler. Tyler is growing quickly and has 100,000 people. It is also dry. I've seen commercials that say that if the town goes wet, it will be Sin City, full of gamblers, drunks and prostitutes.
I can't believe I'm seeing this in the 21st century. Actually, dry counties have more problems with drunk driving accidents b/c people drive to the wet counties, get drunk, and then drive home.

It's bad enough that we have to buy beer at a "liquor store" when we visit Minnesota.
In Iowa, we can geet beer practically anywhere, thank heck.

Ever since I vacationed in NC one year, I check to see if it's wet or will I need to pack my own in.

(47,675 posts)I also spent a lot of time in Irving, TX - totally dry. I learned early on to get my beer and a styrofoam cooler before entering the county. Hotel ice is free.
