(39,961 posts)They have fangs. Sooner or later, they will evolve to have fangs capable of piercing the tuna cans and sucking the juice out of them. One of my cats is no dummy. I can see her looking at me, testing to see if she can best me in matters related to the food dish .
Amerigo Vespucci
(30,885 posts)Didn't matter where he was. Open the drawer, pull it out, "Oh, hi...what are YOU doing here?"
He was the only cat I've had who cared about "people food" but he was REALLY obsessed with that. He wanted a taste of EVERYTHING.
Brigid
(17,621 posts)He had been a stray, and he would eat anything I would happen to leave out. giv Any other cat I've ever had, didn't really care -- except for typical "cat" foods like tuna. One time, my sister sent me some smoked salmon from the Pacific Northwest. I don't know where the two cats I had at the time (Hamlet and Ophelia) were when I cut open that package, but I looked down and they they were. So of course I had to give them some.

Silver Swan
(1,110 posts)One Christmas, they bought the cat his own jar of olives, and wrapped it up and put it under the tree.
Although the jar was sealed, the cat apparently knew it contained olives, because he clawed the wrapping paper off. (He did not bother the other wrapped presents.)

(4,056 posts)Loved whatever I had on my plate--and I'm a vegetarian! One time I left my dinner by the TV to go get the wine, and she attacked the plate, slurping up the hottest salsa known to humankind. I followed her around with a newspaper under her butt for 2 days, but she assimilated it just fine. No explosive anything.
She loved sweet stuff as well, even tho studies say that felines have no taste for sugary foods.

(39,961 posts)I've ever seen. A sample size of one. Sounds like the humans got trained instead of the cat.

(32,084 posts)How the hell she knows it's tuna and not canned tomatoes or beans is beyond me. I always pour the water into a bowl for her, and she is quite content to get that.

(6,787 posts)No, it wasn't buttered, and she made a terrible mess of the cob as she chewed on it, since she had catly predator teeth.
Mine TOO! She's nuts about it. She will cry to the heavens unless she gets her share of corn on the cob.

(23,272 posts)I couldn't believe it. The one is still with me and won't eat canned cat food either - just Purina Cat Chow.
My vet says that cats become acclimated to food textures and tastes as kittens and they tend to have strong aversions to anything that doesn't match their memory as adults. Both of those cats were/are barn cats so I'm presuming they never had the luxury of tuna or canned food as kittens (on the other hand, they LOVE a good rodent especially if they can figure out how to show me their prize first).

(39,961 posts)that is sweet as pie and comes inside most of the time. She'll knock you down for tuna LOL. If there is even a whiff of tuna, she is packed up right there with you

(16,245 posts)He will sit next to me and practically beg when I am eating some. He gets very close to me and will steal it if I am not looking. I let him lick the spoon when I am done and that seems to be enough. That's the only human food he seems to crave.

(6,121 posts)three meowing cats looking up at me beseechingly. It doesn't matter what I'm preparing; even coffee will do. They just have so much hope in their little hearts. (They are often rewarded for looking at me that way).
