The move went pretty well. It was easy when it was a u-haul with no furniture and just our personal belongings. I've been working for 4 weeks now, it's been a real whirlwind, but we're starting to get our bearings.
Crossing the border and exporting/importing our vehicles was a breeze. I was quite surprised. I thought I'd be at the border for at least a couple hours, but I was through in under 20 minutes. It didn't hurt that I had a disgrunteled Canada Customs agent. He was wearing a "Working with no contract" badge on his shirt, so it almost felt like he rubberstamped me. That said, I did have enough paperwork to back me up. Incidentally I am Canadian, so obviously I was just returning home after 14 years in Seattle.
My wife and daughter, both American's followed a week later, and again...the border was a breeze...all welcomed with open arms, as it were!
Took I-90 right across with several overnights, and a 5 hour break at Sturgis, the day before bike week.
Of course I had my trusty co-pilot Sandy with me..who was an excellent passenger...
Anyway...I took a bunch of pictures along the way, so I just wanted to share a few....

(149,627 posts)It's pretty country, isn't it?
I lived in Eastern Washington for a couple of years as a child; that pic sure took me back!
Glad you're where you want to be.

(4,338 posts)I started her up front with me and she would sit and ride ok, but then once we got going she wanted to curl up and sleep. well, she's 55lbs, decent sized dog. She can curl up into a pretty small ball when she wants to, but I could tell she was having a hard time figuring it out.
So after day 1 I would open both the front and rear passenger doors and gave her a choice. She took the back seat everytime..more room to stretch out...brat!
So she would poke her face between the front seats once in a while to say hi, but basically flaked out in the back seat for the majority of the trip.

(4,338 posts)I toyed with the idea of crossing through Canada..heading up to Vancouver then taking Hwy 1 across, but after Calgary it gets pretty desolate and lonely until you get back halfway through Ontario which is about 4 days of boredom...it would have been too much.
Plus the cost of gas in Canada is much higher than the states as well
