(36,748 posts)I love the stuff.
I bought some regular Duke's a while back thinking it might be good for pimento cheese and other sandwich salads. After trying it in chicken salad, I tossed the bottle. I'll stick with the Olive oil mayo even if my pimento cheese doesn't taste the same as when I was a kid and super loved pimento cheese.

(116,004 posts)What you put on your BLT shouldn't be sweet. Anyhow, mayo does have a flavor; it's mildly tart with a lemony overtone.

Try Duke's. It's not in-your-face with the flavor, but it's definitely not bland.

(2,552 posts)Miracle Whip is only good in my macaroni salad which, among those who've had it, is the best they've ever eaten.
I only use mayonnaise in a chipotle aioli. And that's made with an obscene amount of garlic.
Aside from those two recipes, that's the only times I'll use either.

(1,924 posts)I grew up with it. The first time I had actual mayonnaise on a sandwich at a friend's house, it seemed horribly bland in comparison.
Now, decades later, I'm fine with mayo when away from home or out to eat. But I only purchase Miracle Whip to have here in the house. Egg salad, macaroni salad, tuna salad, potato salad... all with Miracle Whip. Any sandwiches calling for a dressing get the same.
I no longer "hate" mayo, but I still love my Miracle Whip!

(25,813 posts)One time I was at my mom's. I bit into a sandwich and OMG..MW...I spit it out. I'm like, "Mom, how could you do this!?"
She was always "dieting", so it was one of her dieting fads.

(25,813 posts)Yes, they were roast beef!!! I was so looking forward to them because she was not a good cook, getting up in age, and for once she was gonna serve us something nice.
I did read that MW is preferred in certain recipes like Waldorf Salad. My mom used to make that. But I don't remember seeing MW in our fridge growing up.
She served plain bologna sandwiches with mayonnaise etc.
She used mayonnaise in tuna fish.
When I was a teen, I made tomato sandwiches with loaded with creamy mayonnaise.
I made my own Dagwood sandwiches.
I never saw MW at our house.
As a matter of fact, I asked about it once because I would see the ads and my mom said, "Mayonnaise is better"
It certainly was a horror to bite into roast beef with cheddar, lettuce and tomatoes on a croissant and it was MW. I wanted to scrape it off. I went hunting for the mayonnaise. To my horror, she had no mayonnaise in the house either...She was losing her faculties a bit...
I guess this might be a 12 step thread!

(4,741 posts)Ever since I tried it in Mississippi back in the 80s. The husband found it shocking for me to get so excited about mayo at the grocer's when our local one started carrying Duke's. I was all but hugging that jar.
Then he had his first taste...and understood my delight at finding it at the store. We haven't bought anything else since then.
