2. Bats are cool and very beneficial to humanity

They eat tons of insects and the fruit-eating variety are critical to the pollination of plants in many parts of the world. Right now there's a massive die-off of bats in the United States due to the poorly understood and contagious white nose syndrome. Almost 7 million have died and the federal government has closed many caves on federal land throughout the country.
