A lot classier and more soothing than the bright red trees that Melaria designed.

While all 300 likely weren’t all there the same time, I expect there were many hours spent off site in preparation.

Bring out all those trees! All those colored glass balls and baubles and wreaths and Christmas keepsakes and Grandma's favorite ornaments that you were lucky enough to inherit. All that hanging-up stuff! All the gewgaws that you get out every year for the Christmas season! Gimme the tinsel and lights and the music boxes and the stockings and the whole works! Why the hell not? NOTHING is too much! We can be tasteful and austere and understated for the entire rest of the year. Christmas is different! Time to dress up the place and then enjoy it!

I always felt more Christmassy when the decorations started going up.

Anybody here live in Kansas City, MO? Maybe near the Plaza? Every Thanksgiving after the big dinner, my parents had a ritual. They'd drive into the hills across Brush Creek from the Plaza and we'd stand there and either watch the lights go on OR enjoy them after they'd been turned on. ALL the buildings were lined with lights. Every color of lights! The whole Plaza area where all the stores and shops and restaurants were. I remember it as a great upscale shopping and dining area, and very popular - as it deserved to be. And every Christmas, they turned it into a night-time fairy land. There were always picture postcards of the Plaza all lit up for Christmas. FABULOUS childhood memory - that still makes me smile!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those reindeer looking like they're going to pull Santa's sleigh all the way across that big room! You can't NOT get into a Christmassy mood, surrounded by all that visual magic. FABULOUS job!!! OUT-FREAKIN'-STANDING, Dr. Biden!!! Turn her loose in the White House EVERY Christmas season (no matter who's voted in to occupy it)!

DAYUM, she's good!!!
