Are you just dying to purchase a 1971 AMC Gremlin ? Have $33,895 ? *

* - Of course, this may not be the final sales price

Did anyone love or like this car in 1971, when I was 13 ? Not me but different strokes....

The AMC Gremlin (also American Motors Gremlin)[1] is a subcompact automobile introduced in 1970, manufactured and marketed in a single, two-door body style (1970–1978) by American Motors Corporation (AMC), as well as in Mexico (1974–1983) by AMC's Vehículos Automotores Mexicanos (VAM) subsidiary.

2. I had a roommate who was an AMC guy. He drove a 1962 Rambler when we were in college in the early 70s.

He loved the Gremlin.

That said, I don’t think even he put down nearly 34 grand for this turkey.

Also the Javelin and Pacer.

It was red and had a white stripe down the side that made it somewhat resemble a big Coke can. My Dad only kept his cars for three years before buying a new one (like many did back then), so it was soon replaced with a Buick Regal void of personality.

In other words, Gremlin was so ugly it was cute. Can't say the same for the AMC Pacer.

But >$33K? No way.

I think I had 4 different Ramblers over the years. When I’d go buy parts the old joke was Ramblers were an engineers dream and a mechanics nightmare. A well deserved reputation.

while in college. Worst car I ever had to drive - when it ran.

Unreliable junk from an era where Detroit was making it's worst, and AMC was at the bottom.
