The Younger Lady mummy
Today I picked up an issue of National Geographic about King Tut and became intrigued by it all, especially by the story of his mother, known only as The Younger Lady, whose mummy was found in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings by archaeologist Victor Loret in 1898. She was laid out beside the mummy of her mother (Tiye) and the mummy of a brother of hers, a young boy who was possibly the young Prince Thutmose, or Webensenu, both of whom were also children of Amenhotep III and his Great Royal Wife Tiye. The Younger Lady married another of her brothers, the pharaoh Akhenaten. They became the parents of Tutankhamun.
The Younger Lady's manner of death is a mystery. Was it a chariot accident? Was she kicked in the face by a horse? Was she struck in the face with an ax?
warning: There are mummy photos at the links and some are gross.
