I challenged a woman I know to name 10 things she loves about her country. I figure I should try to do the same.
I think it is really cool that America has such a diversity of climates. We've got hot parts and cold parts and rainy parts and dry parts.
I love our national parks. I love seeing sequoias at one park and giant cactus at another park, and waterfalls at another park.
I love all of the different nationalities and hearing the stories of how people came here or moved around.
I also love how all of the different nationalities brought their favorite foods.
I love the efforts that we make to be inclusive, even when it seems difficult or contradictory.

(24,300 posts)Let me add the safety of our food and water. I can obtain either without even giving a thought as to it being safe to eat or drink. Much of the world can not say that.

(7,627 posts)1. National, state, and city/town parks.
2. The landscaping here is gorgeous. We have mountains, caves, oceans, lakes, coastlines, flat land, and some colossal hills.
3. The Smithsonian Museums, Auto Museums, Working Farm/Living History Museums, Military/War Museums, Science Museums and Art Museums. I'm sure that I forgot several other types as well.
4. International tourist. Alright, this should go with my listed #2 as we have plenty to explore as America is visited frequently on international vacations.
5. American music. Pop, rock, R&B, country, jazz ...it all came from America.
6. America is high on the list for inventions as well.
7. We have some amazing female pioneers. RBG, Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks.
8. Camping and campfires. I don't know how popular this activity is in other countries but I wouldn't want to give it up for anything.
9. Being able to take a shower pretty much anywhere and anytime. I have to get the stinky bug repellent and campfire smoke washed off eventually.
10. Halloween and Horror Conventions. Some people might throw in Comic Cons but I'm definitely a horror con fan myself.

(6,148 posts)After COVID, I am super glad that we have the CDC.
I was a subcontractor for OSHA for many years and they do a lot to keep our factories safe.
I am very glad that we have FEMA and a system for helping states with natural disasters.
I am forever grateful for our air traffic control system. I would be dead 1000 times over without it.
And I think our National Weather Bureau does an amazing job of predicting hurricanes which is super important for me on the East Coast. They may also predict tornadoes which has to be tricky.
Someone else said our music. We have rock, R&B, hip-hop, jazz, blues, country, western (I don't know the difference) bluegrass, classical & opera from Europe, salsa, and classical guitar from Latin America, zydeco, reggae from the Caribbean, folk... Something for everyone.
