My review - Hulu Plus!

Really!

Why did I wait this long to get this service is overly beyond me.

I decided to unload TV because it was 800 channels of absolute crap other than the 3 months in summer when True Blood is on.

But now I ended up spending a day searching thru Hulu Plus finding all sorts of neato stuff available.

First thing it has most of the major channels and unless you are a diehard for watching shows as they happen, most of the time the episodes show up the next day on Hulu. THis was good because I do enjoy watching things like 'The Daily Show', 'The Corbert Report', and a few regular shows on network TV. Plus they had an assortment of top notch movies from various Movie Studios including channels for Miramax, Lionsgate, Universal and 21st Century Fox.

You can get some of these shows via plan Hulu but the selection is limited. But for $10 a month it's a great value. ONe show I watched was the very first episode of the first season of 'Saturday Night Live'. It was hosted by George Carlen and Andy Kauffman did his 'Mighty Mouse' routine (even a bit that includes current US SEnator Al Franken).

So if you think your cable bill is way to much, consider an option like this. To connect to Hulu plus along with Netfix I have an Apple TV. But Samsun, Roku, Western Digital and a few other companies have similiar devices that connect to services like Hulu and netflix (I like apple TV because I can play my Itunes collection on the TV).

Downside is that if you want to watch something when it airs you can't unless you get antenna. My first HD Digital antenna ws returned. It was suppose to be an indoor/outdoor and powerful to pick up a few channels but it was too big and clunky for my tastes. I've got a Leaf on shipment from Amazon which is suppose to be really good and was cheaper than what I originally bought.

So there you go!

I do object to being subjected to commercials when I am paying, but at least they are brief.

Depending on location, we get up to 50 channels through the air using a very small antenna that we put outside. This includes more PBS stations than we could get with cable or satellite. And it's all free.

That's handy for making quick bathroom or food breaks.

If I have to install an antenna outside it's not happening. I'm not very handy.

But the Leaf is suppose to pick up alot of channels and all be HD so that's good. I really just want the main network channels. I lived 10 years with only getting ABC/CBS/NBC/Fox and even then they were all a bit fuzzy.

Antennaweb is a great site for selecting an antenna then finding out where the various stations are broadcasting from.

There's 3 shows I might watch and 2 of them are aired on our PBS station.
None of the things I watch on a regular basis are listed.
