enlivened only by Harbaugh punking the scab refs.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/jim-harbaugh-cons-replacement-refs-two-extra-challenges-014552673--nfl.html

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh, another one of the violators who was sternly advised, was incensed by Roan's crew early in Sunday's 24-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, when Roan called an illegal block ... on the kicking team. Unsure in retrospect how a kicking team could block in the first place, Roan tried to cover his backside by saying that "By rule, there is no flag on the play."...

Roan's crew really started to mess things up in the fourth quarter. With 3:33 left, according to the excellent recap provided by ESPN's Kevin Seifert, the 49ers had called a timeout after a 3-yard run by Vikings running back Toby Gerhart. However, Harbaugh threw a challenge flag after he noticed on replays that Gerhart may have fumbled, and 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis landed on the ball.

The problem was, the 49ers had just used their last timeout, and you need a timeout remaining to challenge a call. After the game, Roan detailed what happened next, when Harbaugh sidled over to him and mounted a pretty impressive con.....

Uh ... no, Ken. You just need the one. Perhaps Roan thought the 49ers DID have two timeouts left, because Harbaugh got another free challenge a few plays later. Unbelievably, Roan let him do it.

Even confirmed football junkie WilliamPitt is considering boycotting the NFL until the real refs are back.

Those who wish to express their displeasure with San Francisco's five-time Super Bowl champs (and you know who you are ) usually call them the "Forty-Whiners".

Iggles and Washington lost. FSU won the day before and I am leading in all three of my Fantasy leagues (one is touchy though - I'm out of players and he has a WR and IDP going tonight so could catch me)
but all in all this was a great Football weekend with an 85% chance of being perfect.

RAH RAH SIS BOOM BAH! whatever that means. It feels right hollering it though.

and looked good beating my Cowboys last week. (I'm not happy about that but they did it fair and square). At least Dallas' only loss so far is outside the division.

Seattle and GB are both 1-1. Seattle's loss was to Arizona which sounds weird to say but they been winning this year - They are 3-0 having beaten Seattle, Philly and New England so it's not like they are beating chumps.

about how some of the less obvious calls aren't the fault of the replacement refs, but, as I heard one sports analyst say, that call would have been obvious to two drunk guys in a bar.

Totally outrageous.

And I wasn't even rooting for the Packers.

Anyway, if the replacement refs feel as badly about it as that same sports guy mentioned, I would think they would just refuse to do it. Go back to their day jobs.

The single worst call in the history of the NFL. Two things make it even worse. First, the chickenshit call on the GB defender for pass interference a couple of plays before, and second, these morons reviewed the "touchdown" catch and still blew the call. The Packer DB had that football. Steve Young and Trent Dilfer were beside themselves with disbelief in their post-game commentary. Unbelievable.
