and know that good does exist in the world. Two weeks ago, a local auction house that I follow online sold a 2015 Scion to a couple from a nearby town. Inside the car, the couple found an envelope with $1,100 cash in it. Knowing that the seller's husband had recently passed away, and that she was in assisted living, the couple felt the right thing to do was to return the money to the seller. Obviously, they could've kept the cash, and nobody would ever have known. But they didn't; they returned it to the seller, to her deep gratitutde. That money helped her greatly with medical expenses.
It just helps us to know that the vast majority of us are not like somebody on trial for fraud in New York.

(9,195 posts)The Cubs were playing the Cardinals at Wrigley Field on a Sunday afternoon, so Wrigley was packed. After we left, and were on our way back to our motel in the western suburbs, I realized I had lost my wallet. When we got to the room, we canceled the credit cards, and fortunately I still had travelers checks.
The next morning, I called Wrigley lost and found. They had my wallet, complete with ID, credit cards and cash (not a lot maybe $100). It was a rainy Monday morning, we were 20 miles from Wrigley, and facing a 7 hour drive home in the opposite direction, so I asked them to mail it to me. They did, and it arrived 2 or 3 days later. Most people are honest.
