(10,804 posts)This handsome guy was named Bermuda and I adopted in early 2012.
He had been my cat until I moved in with my SO. Then Bermuda became daddy's little boy.
At one time, SO worked 3rd shift and as my SO was walking out the door and I was walking back into the house, my own cat would chase me and attack my legs. I believe that Bermuda thought that I was kicking SO out of the house? This event started to become a 5 night a week event. I found another exterior door to get into the house sop that I wouldn't be attacked.
He was a very loving cat, liked pets, liked cuddling, liked spooning, he just didn't like that his "dad" would have to leave for work.
Obviously, I don't have to explain why I've been chased by men. *wink, wink*

Trackdown was the ultimate professional and was a champion athlete. He adored my daddy and would perform feats of brilliance in cutting contests, but only with my dad in the saddle.
He never hurt any of us, but we always went armed with a bucket of feed when we ventured into the pasture. My dad just called him and he came galloping.
I just know that he and my daddy are out there together, checking fence lines on Florida's Okeechobee County prairies while keeping an eye out for those recalcitrant steers.

That thing came up out of the creek behind my uncle's house and decided that it did not like me being there. It literally chased me all the way back to the back deck of my uncle's. (25,214 posts)Both were very scary. My cousins and I were playing in a field when we saw this giant ram running at us and looking mean. My cousins and I climbed trees to avoid him, but my younger sister was struggling and couldn't get up the first limb of the tree she had chosen. I had to get out of my tree, run over to her and give her a boost up her tree, then run back to my tree. Before I could get up, he was at her tree and I had to climb listening and watching him butt her tree and her screaming. Me and my 2 cousins were screaming too. It didn't take my uncle long to come and rescue us. He'd forgotten to close the gate all the way in the back pasture.
With the pig, we were at another cousins' house and they asked if we wanted to see some baby pigs. I was probably 7 and Brenda was 5 and we went over there with 4 other older cousins. We were trying to catch the baby pigs when the mom escaped from wherever she was and came after us with murder in her eyes. We were younger and slower than all the rest who easily made it over the 6 ft fence. We were in a total panic and the pig was breathing on my sisters' heels. We got to the gate and my oldest cousin was leaning over to help us. I told him get Brenda and I somehow sailed over the fence while he was pulling her up. I did it totally unconsciously, just knew I had to get over and then I was in the dirt on the other side.

(8,339 posts)My father had about 1500 head on our farm. Most were Herefords. They can be rather gentle and easy going, but they are also jumpy and 'followers'. My father used to go into the bull pen to feed them and inevitably one of them would start pawing and lowering his head. Dad would just whack it on the snout with the bucket. It seemed as if he was unafraid of them, but it was my dad being smart. He could tell when they were being a threat or not. I have watched him haul ass out of the pen many times because the bucket did not work. (He did not carry it either. He would go back for it once the bulls had wandered away from that part of the pen.)
I was on good terms with two of the bulls so they would always come over to me and I could pet them and we would play 'push war'. For some reason, the bull always won...

(40 posts)Banty roosters are mean af.
One does not mess with domestic geese, they, too, are cobra chickens.
Cows don't so much chase as follow with curiosity, it's intimidating to non-farm folk.
Bulls are another matter; you stay out of their space, they're potential killers.
A sow with piglets is nothing to mess with, they can and do kill people if they can knock them down.
I spent some time on a farm with a guard llama who would immediately attack anyone wearing sun glasses.
A couple years ago I had a regular hike that crossed a pasture. Fairly urban area, not cattle used to contending with coyotes. A cow with nursing calf looked right at me and stomped, but they do move like that, I have lots of cow experience. Then she kept staring and did it again, so I stopped. Third stomp. I've never had a cow act like that, so I backed up about fifty yards, then turned and walked quickly, looking over my shoulder to make sure I wasn't about to get run down.

We were hiking back from Orange Lake. One of the hikers pulled out a dried sausage roll, and began passing pieces of it around our small group. The bear came barreling down the trail for it. Frank threw the sausage off the trail, and the bear followed it. We scrambled down the trail, and got safely to family camp (near the Ahwahnee Hotel). Fun and games in Yosemite. Never eat while hiking in bear country. 😁😁😁
