Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDo you call others in your own home on your cell phone?
Or do you insist on conversing face to face with those within your walls?
I was just thinking- sometimes convenience comes in different forms, but not all forms of convenience are equal in quality.
Interesting dilemma.

(17,742 posts)I have texted my son when he has friends over and I don't want to interrupt.
"Tell those bums to go home now!" (just kidding)

(149,632 posts)My husband and I use our two land lines to talk to each other from time to time.
It's easy and convenient!
And of course we talk face to face when we're in the same room, or nearby.

(9,902 posts)in the house - he may be in the man cave, or to say something we don't want our 5 year old to hear...there's been a couple of times where I was sick (throwing up sick) that I have texted him from the bathroom before I threw up because I have a tendency to pass out and have a seizure when that happens. I end up with a panic attack when I'm sick like that, which makes it impossible for me to yell.
Perhaps TMI, but you asked

(41,694 posts)Much less call someone anywhere in my house. My house is 950 sq.ft., there's nowhere that's out of range of my voice.

(21,020 posts)than yelling out the door or walking around the yard looking for Mr Pipi, that's for sure.
If he has his cell phone on him, I call or text him from my cell phone.

(23,272 posts)My house isn't that big but my teen is almost always plugged into her music. Even if she doesn't have the earphones on, she's got the music pretty loud and I hate shouting over it.
Texting or calling her means I don't have to walk upstairs and barge in ALL the time (although I do admit that sometimes I do that for the shock factor on her face when I invade "her" space - heh, gotta keep teens on their toes somehow!

(1,819 posts)I've also been known to call someone in the house from the car - in the driveway.
Mr. k puts his cell phone on the counter with his wallet and keys when he gets home, so I have to talk to him face to face. The kids - they like the text.
