OK, so what do your feline overlords do when you scold them?

My Ruby yawns at me. She just did it a minute ago when I yelled at her to get off the kitchen counter. I used to have a big fat cat that did the same thing. I guess I just don't make much of an impression on them.

Ignore me. The kittens get into shit so I WILL yell at them. That gets the sheltie to intervene. HopeHoops Oct 2012 #2
It depends on how mad I am at her. GoCubsGo Oct 2012 #3

Same general response...

If I'm "training" a cat (maybe I should qualify that and say ATTEMPTING to train...) I use a loud "No" along with a squirt of water. Usually that will result in a mad scramble but with continued use can ultimately extinguish the behavior you are objecting to. With cats you have GOT to remember that everything is in the here and now. You gotta react at that time--not a second later--otherwise the cat just won't make the connection.

They're just bored and want to play with her and they've figured out that if they jump on the sink or something I'll call them by name and the dog will bark. They immediately jump down and go for the dog to play. It's sort of funny, but it does interrupt a lot of sleep.

Note: The sheltie treats the kittens as her own puppies. She'd never hurt them, but they're rather brutal with her tail and leg feathers.

In the rare instances where I get really pissed, she runs and hides until come and apologize to her for yelling so loudly at her, and convince her that I don't hate her. Sometimes, she'll sit there and give me the stink eye. More often than not, however, she just ignores me. If she is where she doesn't belong, I usually have to forcibly remove her. And, then forcibly remove her again after she goes right back into that spot. And, rinse, lather, and repeat, until she gets tired and moves onto some other annoying behavior.

used to wait all day until I was asleep and knock my water onto my face. He only did it when I had thwarted him from going outside or something. I would wake spluttering to see his tail whip out of the door with a "wreow" as if to say, "Take that, bitch!"

I really do miss him.
